Natural Inspiration – Beulah Aidoo

BA
What is your name and where do you live?
My name is Beulah Aidoo and I live in Cardiff, Wales.

When did you go Natural and Why?
I kind of went natural accidentally. My hair was relaxed for several years but when I turned 18 I got bored and put it in braids. I kept it in braids for about 8 months without touching the creamy crack- simply because I couldn’t be bothered. But then one winter day (28.1.12) I decided to relax it again and it didn’t work. Some say it was a coincidence but I call it divine intervention! I had no idea there was such a big natural hair community until my friend showed me a couple Naturalistas on YouTube, I became obsessed and decided that  January 28th 2012 was the last time I relaxed my hair. I big chopped on the 8th of August 2012 and have been loving life ever since.

How would you describe your hair and texture?
Well my edges are tightly coiled but my ends are looser, my hair is a compilation of several textures but to me, all of them are beautiful!  If I had to choose a texture I’d say my hair is a combination of the 4’s. My hair grows very fast as well (almost an inch a month) so as it grows longer the texture is changing

How do you take care of your hair?
Coconut oil. That stuff is everything!  I also use more conditioner than shampoo and have been maintaining protective styles during the cold winter months.

What are your words of Inspirations for our readers?
I’ve got a quote from my natural hair blog- thecreamycrackrehab.tumblr.com
“If black females invested as much money and care into their  natural hair as they do their weaves, the number of bald Brazilians, Peruvians, and Indians walking around would be dramatically lower.” – YOUR hair is your crown, treat it well!

Thank you Beula –  If you would like to appear as a Natural Inspiration all you need to do is send in your answers to the questions above with a minimum of four photos to angel@thenaturallounge.com
