What’s your name and where do you live?
My name is Esther and I live in Dagenham, Essex

When did you go natural and why?
I officially went natural mid 2011 after my second big chop shortly after I had my son. After I had my chop, I went on to texturize my hair and also did weaves and braiding. I noticed that my hair was severely shedding and my edges were no longer attractive, as this was due to pulling of hair from the weaves.  I also had an incident in 2012 while I went in for a wig cap fix, it went wrong! I had a gash on my scalp and I knew that was the final straw. Since then, I have refrained from doing braids or weaves and I just wear my natural hair. It was a tough learning curve for me, but I am so PRO Afro Natural Hair!

How would you describe your hair texture?
My hair texture is soft and full, it’s quite coarse too, not too fine. I have a TWA going on, so I am managing it very well.

How do you take care of your hair?
Well  I have adapted a good regime of washing with my hair twice week and also doing a full deep condition with Shea Radiance at home. As I haven’t been to a salon for any natural hair treatments or styling,  I style by combing out my hair and and adorning it with scarves and  headwraps. This is Simple and easy to maintain. I have recently started trying out Finger coils, as seen in the photos posted.
